Katherine Preston

 

Katherine Preston is a writer and public speaker living in Brooklyn, NY.

Her first book, Out With It: How Stuttering Helped Me Find My Voice, has been bought by Simon and Schuster and will be published in April 2013. The book chronicles her life with stuttering, her journey to self-acceptance and the year she spent interviewing over 100 speech therapists, researchers and people who stutter. KEYNOTE SPEECH INFORMATION (JUNE 13, 2013, 13:45 – 14:45)

'Katherine will discuss the journey chronicled in her memoir, Out With It: How Stuttering Helped Me Find My Voice. What starts as a personal battle against stuttering opens into a story that reveals what it means to find self-acceptance and how to live a life with a different voice. Katherine discusses the year she spent travelling around America interviewing over 100 stutterers, speech therapists and researchers. Her talk draws on the stories of many of the people she met and her story highlights the positive rewards that can come from confronting our challenges and shows that we are all stronger than we think we are.'
